
In honor of music in our school's month, our staff at Mount Pulaski Grade School shared how music is/was a part of their lives. Our staff member we would like to highlight today is Mrs. Wahls who teaches junior high english language arts. Mrs. Wahls sang in the choir in middle school and high school. She played saxophone in grade school and middle school. Mrs. Wahls likes to listen to country music and a little pop music. Her favorite radio station is 97.3. Mrs. Wahls has attended country music festivals in Chicago and loves to listen to live performances. If Mrs. Wahls could learn anything in music, it would be to relearn how to read music. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument or listening to music, make music a part of your life today.

Our two staff members we would like to highlight today are Mrs. Reinhart who is a paraprofessional and Mrs. Varvel who is the grade school counselor. Mrs. Reinhart sang and played clarinet in highschool. She enjoys all genres of music but really enjoys 80s and 90s music. Mrs. Reinhart's favorite radio station is 98.7. If Mrs. Reinhart could learn anything in music, it would be to play the fiddle. Mrs. Varvel likes to listen to all kinds of music except for jazz and listens to her music on apple music. If she could do anything in music class, it would be to dance so she can get in shape and take singing lessons. Our two staff members that we would like to highlight today are Ms. Powell who teaches 3B and Mrs. Przykopanski who teaches 1A. Ms. Powell sang two years in her high school choir and played clarinet and alto saxophone in her highschool band. Her favorite music is country and pop with her favorite radio station right now being pop 2k on sirius xm. Ms. Powell got to meet Lady A at the sangamon county fair and remembers how nice they were. She did take piano and voice lessons as a kid but wishes to relearn piano because she forgot everything she learned. Mrs. Przykopanski played flute in junior high band and was part of her cheer/dance team in high school. She likes to listen to all genres of music and listens to music on 105.7 and 101.5. Mrs. Przykopanski and her husband used to go to concerts all the time like Shinedown and Badflower. If Mrs. Przykopanski could learn anything in music class, it would be to learn about the different genres of music and how each one got started. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument or listening to music, make music a part of your life today.

Our staff member we would like to highlight today is Mrs. Mileham who is a paraprofessional. Mrs. Mileham performed in madrigals/chorus in high school and did chorus in college. She does enjoy listening to all types of music but her favorite is country music. Mrs. Mileham's favorite radio station is 101.9 fm. She worked at Opryland in high school and met future country stars there. Mrs. Mileham has performed The National Anthem at games/races and can play a little piano. She enjoys learning about new music and singing karaoke. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument or listening to music, make music a part of your life today.

Our next staff member we would like to highlight is Ms. Lex, who teaches 2A. Ms. Lex likes to listen to country and 2000’s hip hop. Her favorite radio station is Sirius XM highway. Ms. Lex got to meet the band Sugarland backstage and remembers how nice they were. She loves attending concerts and wishes she knew how to play guitar. Ms. Lex did take lessons on the guitar one summer but couldn’t play it well since she is left handed and the guitar was for a person who was right handed. In honor of music in our school's month, our staff at Mount Pulaski Grade School shared how music is/was a part of their lives. Our staff member that we would like to highlight today is Mrs. Hill who teaches elementary special education. Mrs. Hill played alto saxophone in her high school marching, jazz, and concert bands. She also sang in choirs during college. Mrs. Hill enjoys listening to all kinds of music and likes to attend musicals and concerts. She currently performs in church choir, handbell choir, and does play the saxophone when she has time. If Mrs. Hill could learn anything in music class, she would like to learn about keyboarding theory. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument or listening to music, make music a part of your life today.

Our two staff members we would like to highlight today are Mr. Lamkey who is our school superintendent and Mrs. Hickey, who is our school nurse. Mr. Lamkey enjoys listening to all kinds of music and likes to listen to music on WSCR and series xm. Mr. Lamkey does enjoy musicals and will be attending a Journey concert and Zac Brown Band concert soon. He is interested in learning more about and listening to music. Mrs. Hickey played clarinet in her high school band and pep band. She enjoys listening to all kinds of music but her favorite is country music. Mrs. Hickey’s favorite radio stations are 101.9 and 104.5. She has attended concerts to Rio Speedwagon, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Kane Brown, Kenny Chesney, Vince Gill, and Old Dominion. Congratulations to all of the choir students who participated in Logan County Music Yesterday on March 17! There were four choirs or 75 students from Logan County who sang six songs at this event.

In honor of music in our school's month, our staff at Mount Pulaski Grade School shared how music is/was a part of their lives. Our staff member we are highlighting today is Mrs. Farris who is the unit office secretary. Mrs. Farris enjoys different kinds of music and likes to listen to music from NPR and apple music. She did play the flute in 4th-8th grade and does enjoy singing. Mrs. Farris loves to go to concerts, has seen the Avett brothers 9 times, and has seen Jason Isbell four times. If she could learn anything in music, Mrs. Farris would be interested in learning how to read music. A fun fact about Mrs. Farris said that her father is a very talented singer and auditioned for Julliard. In honor of music in our school's month, our staff at Mount Pulaski Grade School shared how music is/was a part of their lives. Our staff member we are highlighting today is Mrs. Elliott who is our title teacher. Mrs. Elliott was involved in her high school marching band, concert band, jazz band and participated in two musicals along with her church’s choir. She also took lessons in ballroom, swing, jazz, salsa, and country line dancing. Mrs. Elliott enjoys all kinds of music and listens to different radio stations. She likes to attend concerts and wishes she could be involved in band and choir now but doesn’t have the time. A fun fact about Mrs. Elliott is that she was a DJ in college and she can play the flute/piccolo. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument or listening to music, make music a part of your life today.
