In honor of music in our school's month, our staff at Mount Pulaski Grade School shared how music is/was a part of their lives. Our last two staff members that we will highlight today is Mrs. Parker, who is our music teacher and Mr. Pluhm who is our band director. Mrs. Parker participated in marching band, concert band, pep band, jazz band, and choir in high school and college. She listens to all kinds of music and her favorite radio station is 106.5 the arch. Mrs. Parker got to meet Canadian Brass when they performed at the St. Louis Symphony Concert Hall and met an original cast member in Bring It On Musical when they performed at the Fabulous Fox in St. Louis along with a tour of the venue. Mrs. Parker does know how to play the band instruments at the beginning level but wishes she could have taken more lessons in piano and guitar in music class. Mr. Pluhm participated in many band and choir programs in high school and college. His favorite music is pop, 80’s and jazz music with his favorite radio station being WBNQ. Mr. Pluhm got to meet the bass trombonist of the Chicao Symphony Orchestra, Charlie Vernon, and performs with the Lincoln Area Music Society and Mount Pulaski Band. A fun fact about Mr. Pluhm is that he is always singing songs in his head. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument or listening to music, make music a part of your life today.
