Mount Pulaski High School students and staff had the opportunity to participate in a "Day of Service" on Friday, May 2, 2025.
The students and staff fanned out in Mt. Pulaski, Elkhart, and Lincoln. In Mt. Pulaski, students cleaned up North Park, helped organize books at the Public Library, helped at the Courthouse, helped with the landscaping at Vonderlieth Living Center, emptied the District Quonset hut, mulched and weeded at the High School, helped with students at the grade school, decluttered the bus barn, and cleaned up at Frazier Park. In Elkhart, students helped with maintenance of the butterfly garden, weeding and landscaping at the public library, and cleaning up the memorial downtown. In Lincoln, students cleaned up around the ALMH wellness trail, the Elk's Club, helped with the Humane Society plant sale, planted flowers for the Lincoln Park District, and helped with the landscaping at the Lincoln Christian Church. Additionally, students prepared and distributed bags throughout Mount Pulaski for the annual FFA Food Drive.
The day was an amazing opportunity for students and staff to reach beyond themselves and help others. The day was organized by the following staff members who served on the planning committee: Mr. Allen, Ms. Bowers, Mrs. Clark, Mr. Erlenbush, Mrs. Mercer, Mrs. Shankles, and Mrs. Selinger. Special thanks to all of the community members for allowing our students to help out at all of these locations. If you have a service need in the local area that you would like to have considered for our Day of Service next spring, we would love to help you out! Please send your request to the principal, Heather Fricke, at hfricke@mp23schools.com.
